Just now, Golden State beat Toronto on the road in a tight game (113-112), giving Nellie the tie for winningest NBA coach, along with Lenny Wilkens at 1,332 wins. Nellie has 95 fewer losses than Wilkens' record.

Congrats Nellie! I still love Nellie for helping get this franchise on track along with Cuban and Dirk (remember Nellie drafted/traded to bring the skinny 7ft German kid here). Nellie has always been an entertaining character in interviews and stories.

Here's a joke told by Nelson that I still remember (using a strong southern accent):

A highway patrolman pulled a truck over on a rural Texas road for speeding. The officer asked the driver "Got any ID" The driver replied "bout what?"

I appreciate what Nellie has done for this team. He's an amazing coach when he wants to be. I wish him well.

However, the bolded words above are the kicker. They're why I'm glad he won't be coming back to the Mavs as coach.
