He watches a lot of basketball, but there are some posters here that you give you better analysis of the NBA than what you get from Simmons. "Where's your license?" "Oh, you mean my pilot's license? That's out back in the Cessna. Or perhaps you're referring to my license to kill. Revoked. Trouble at the Kazakhstan border. I could give you the details but then I'd have to kill you, which I can't do because my license to kill has been revoked."

Simmons is a writer, not an analyst. I agree. Reading Simmons is the equivalent of watching a movie based on a true event. It can be very well done, and the writing is top notch, but it's for entertainment purposes only and is not afraid to take artistic liberties. Personally, I like reading Simmons' stuff quite a bit, but you can't lose perspective on what it is he delivers....which is high quality literary entertainment within the sports genre, in my opinion. Either way, he seems to have the Mavs were most analyst do - in the 4th to 5th in the West area.....and like all analyst (and all of us, for that matter), at this point, he's only guessing based on opinions of players and teams formed primarily from last year's productivity. "Not everybody is the perfect person in the world," Pryor said of Vick. "Everyone does - kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me. I just feel that people need to give him a chance."

And the Clippers the 6th seed?????? That is some bold sack my friend.

Pop will not be playing Duncan/Manu or the old farts that many minutes or even for all the games. He'll sacrifice some wins in order to keep the core fresh for the playoff run. Utah is also way too high. Someone's always injured on that team and I don't see that changing.

Given that, he certainly may have a deeper insight into the Clippers than most, just as any Mavs fan who's been watching the preseason games may have a deeper Mav insight than those who have not. Though, as you state, it is clear the Clippers have enough talent to at least be a pretty good team. All that said, I'll concede that you could be right. Again, I have heard him say at least twice that he got the Clippers tix b/c they were cheaper than the Lakers and he wanted to watch NBA games. He complains about them b/c they have one of the worst coaches and worst owners in the NBA. Of course he is gonna gripe when he pays to watch their futility. Wrote one of the best articles I've ever seen as it called out the NBA as a whole for stealing the title from the Mavs.
