People are running out of patients with this front office. We want to believe in this team again. We want to restore the hope and confedence that we once had in the Dallas Mavericks. We want to feel like they can beat any team in the league again and we want it NOW. Over and over we stan by and watch other team getting better by signing star players as we set back and do nothing but go after a bunch of nobodys and unproven player. I am sick and tired of Donnie Nelsons approach of building this team. If the Mavs don't sign a star caliber player in this offseason, I think a lot of fans will jump off the Mavs band wagon. I know that Mark Cuban is the owner of this team, but without the fans the Mavs are nothing..... Will the Mavs sign a star player this offseason? (Result) 1.) yes 2.) No 3.) Other

Jefferson/Carter are still very good players but I wouldn't say they are "Star" players. Would I have like to have them? Of course I would but it is still too early to get mad and say the Mavericks are not doing anything. They may already have something in the works and are just waiting til Gortat signing is confirmed to make sure they don't trade assets for a 2 if they feel a center is more important.

Shaq, Carter, Artest, Amarie, Bosh, Jefferson....I think that the Mavs can and should put together a deal using Stack, Damp, Gorge + money to land a STAR like Bosh. If this team signs a big fish we (the fans) are gonna start believing again that they know what the heck they are doing. Over the last 4-5 years they have whiffed evey at bat ecept the Kidd hit and then they got him out at 3rd because he was to old and slow....and that's the ball game. Amare and Bosh aren't going anywhere IMO, particularly Bosh, while Amer has a better chance of being traded...BUT probably not to a West team(GS had their chance, and aren't going to do it)/ Yes the Mavs NEED a HR, but to think it's been possible everytime, is ridiculous. Some of the trades go down even when the Mavs offer comparable assets, and the Mavs are turned down because other team likes other players or peices more I think. And sometimes a "bunt" is what's needed...not a HR.

Bosh said he wanted out, Bosh would be a big fish in the 2010 tournament, so why not try to hook-em now with some tantalizing bait? People thought Danny Ainge was crazy for giving up so much for KG, but they won a title with him so I would say crazy like a fox....That's the kind of stuff that makes fans buy tickets because everybody wants to come out and see the STARS. PS...I would give half the team to get a player like Bosh, They can always get filler from the summer league like they have for the last three years!!!!

I live in Austin Tx where there are many Spurs and rockets fans my dad being one of the biggest spurs fans I know and the verbal bashing for the moves we make is brutal. We really need a big splash something to hang our hat on since 06 finals its just been one down fall after another there is only so many arguments that can be fought with 50 win seasons a 67 win season and dirks numbers who does not get near the respect he deserves. I really feel Dirk deserves a ring I just cringe over the thought it is with another team. Kind of like Mourning I always respected him and felt he did it the right way and deserved a ring just wish it had been against someone else.

You have to remember Dallas has no caproom, no young talent coveted by other teams and no draft picks to throw in so adjust your expectations accordingly. If LA is who wehave to design the team to beat then we needed to get better at the 5. The team did a good thing in going for Gortat. With Dampier and Stacks contracts we will be able to grab major contributors. If Howard is able to play better after his surgeries we will have legitimate stars at the 3 the 4 and the 1 in Kidd. Gortat could become a top center in the league capable of defending the paint better than Dampier due to his superior speed and athleticism. We already know his hands are way better and that should allow Kidd to enhance his offensive game greatly. Dirk will benefit greatly from having an offensive threat at the 5 and this could make our 4/5 better than the lakers 4/5. Howard isn't going to have too much trouble with Artest who is older and starting to slow some. Kobe is why we need a better 2. But our backup 1 is what really needs upgraded. Bobo may be an athletic freak but he needs to learn the game and get more experienced fast, but if Rod get's going we have a defensive PG that can cause an aging Fisher lot's of problems. Kidd can shoot 3's well enough to be our 2 if Bobo turns out to be a find. JJB Can be our offensive backup and Bobo the def. PG. Our troubles would be solved if we could get lucky on one of our PG draftpicks but that is a big if. We have the assets to trade for a SG and PG if we trade Dampier this year. The BAE this year should turn into something decent this year and next season if we can continue to transform the team trading Dampier and adding another MLE then next season we can prepare to compete seriously with the Lakers for a title.

Pirate First Class Posts: 5293 (07/04/09 06:56) DB Smarty Pants Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	i more or less agree with 7dogs even if the mavs can't do anything, they put themslelfs in this position, they made the kidd mistake, and need to take the full blame for the mess the mavs are in... we know why they can't do more because they made bad player moves... the last two summers i've kept hoping they had some backup plan, if the kidd trade went bad, and they don't. this team is screwed and the only thing they could do to try to fix it is gutt this team, admite they made a mistake and start over, but they won't. the mistake kidd trade i can forgive, teams sometimes think they need to take a chance, but the worst thing you can do is not admit to won't work, and keep going down a road to nowhere... look at the suns, with that talent they're still going to admitt to won't work and trying to start over... Cubans more to blame imo...i don't think he's willing to have a bad team to have a good team...
