Because everyone like me is thinking about the Quinton Rosses of the world and what his 12 minutes a game would bring. But really, who cares? ... I just wanted to shock the waters a little bit ... This Q was asked of Donnie a month or two ago on The Ticket (should you think of trading Dirk maybe was the Q), and I haven't seen anybody post what he said ... it pisses me off though each time I think of it. I'll post it if anyone wants to hear it. Rings would especially be interested! (sorry to be so coy ...)

I think the more important question is 'What will he be worth in 2-3 years after he's not quite able to carry a team to a championship anymore.' That's probably when he'll be traded after we go all-out to try to win a championship. But right now, he could be traded to a team trying to win now for a young potential superstar and some firsts. And cleared some salary, if I recall. And Dirk is a heck of a lot more in his prime than Kidd was. Dirk Nowitzki has just been named All-NBA first team! It is the ninth consecutive season Nowitzki has been named All-NBA and the fourth time he has garnered First Team honors (2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07). Nowitzki remains the only Mavericks player in franchise history to be named All-NBA First Team and is one of only three players (Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan) to be named to an All-NBA Team in each of the past nine seasons.

I don't think it's a move that makes you better, but I do think you're a Chris Bosh, Chris Paul or Carmelo Anthony away from being a dynamic viable team again.

If he is traded at age 32 or 33, it will be to a contender and you might get two future first rounders and some expiring contracts.
