Oh...a left handed jump hook. That's one more go-to move than damp has. :) And a dribble up and under the basket move.

Dang it. I accidentally sipped some of the Kool Aid. Ok, I know a highlight video could make me look good, but I have never seen Damp do any of those
things.......ever......one time. He is extremely mobile. His motion is fluid. Has an outside jumper (possibly). He can run the floor.
Look at all the scorers in Orlando. I bet he never gets to touch the ball. I think he would benefit running the floor with Kidd. Bring it. |

Damn. That Kool Aid is pretty tasty. If he can do that consistently, I might have to eat some crow.

Does seem pretty atheletic, and not that a 7 footer needs mad hops, but he seems to have a good verticle. "THE HEART OF A CHAMPION!"

i'm buying this: he is quick, active, has plenty of bbiq, good foot work - moves, really good position and denial, good flops (when needed), and he can
jump over many phone books it appears. he flushes with speed and authority...he also appears to have a balanced head on his shoulders with non of that pansy
"i'm a street tough guy" stuff.
all good in my book |

He also seems to smile and communicate with his fellow players. I suspect he would work well with Kidd. Wonder what Kidd thinks of him. He has playoff
experience, too.

Too bad Orlando is probably matching the MLE offer we supposedly made... Doubt they just let him go for nothing. They might be interested in a S&T for
Bass, perhaps ?

I see a TON of upside in Gortat. God, I hope we can sign him.

I don't if he can set the same kind of crushing pick that Damp can but the rest of his game more than makes up for it....way more. His skill level is WAY
higher.

to Orlando if they matched it would be like paying him $13 million. He wouldn't get any playing time and he would just be unhappy. Matching wouldn't be
a smart move by Orlando.
All those people who complain OR defend the MBT will make or break their arguments based on what we do with Stack.
We MUST get a starter for him...we MUST move him before training camp, and we MUST get a good fitting piece with him. We need a pure shooting 2 or a post scoring 5, and nothing else is gonna do. - Fearless |

Dirk41MVP wrote:They have to pay twice as much for Gortat than the Mavs. I would say it's more than likely a bluff on Orlando's part rather than reality. I can't see them paying 5.5 million to a 12 minute per game player, and paying another 5.5 million in luxury tax on top of it. Doesn't make financial sense. |

I hear San Antonio likes Gortat (sigh of relief)

ya i agree that damp is a world class pick setter and i dont think gortat can rival that but everything else minus just space eating which is damps other asset
seems to be going gortats way. he looks like a really nice player. not sure ab 5 years but i guess that's the risk you have to take in the business, maybe
a 5 yr mle is a discount bc he was behind the BEST center in the NBA and on a team full of scorers. i definitely think his stats dont tell the whole story.

We'll be in the luxury tax too right now?
Pretty amazing if not. Just 2 or 3 years ago we had close to maybe even over $100 mil in salary |

back peddling and then still pulling off the block at 3:39 was cool...

Only reason I can see Orl matching him is to trade him later. For a franchise that has shunned the luxury tax, I can't see them doing that for a long time
for a backup...esplly when their younger franchise player plays the same position. It's not just going over the luxury tax this year...won't they have
to pay that extra $$$ for every year of his contract? That adds up to a lot for a backup, esplly for a team not fond of doing that.

They won't match we got us a major FA signing and I am happy
Gortat Dampier Hollins Dirk Bass Nivins Williams Howard Wright Singleton George STACK TRADE Terry Carroll Green Kidd Bobo JJB Pieces we need to send packing George Carroll Williams and Green. I doubt that we get any takers for Carroll This crap might mean we don't get Nivins on the team not that we need him with Dirk and Bass but if Bass leaves? Maybe Hollins can play PF if Bass bolts. If Singleton makes massive improvements in his game we will be very deep at the 3. Hopefully we find a nice SG with Stacks expirer and we resign Kidd. If we can use the BAE we will need to send someone else packing.

I just got back from a family vacation in Orlando today and none other than Mr. Rick Carlisle and Gortat were on my flight seated next to each other in first
class. The dude is definitely tall, but much thinner than I thought he would be. btw, Carlisle was extremely nice and personable so was Gortat, both posing for
pictures and making jokes after I recognized Carlisle even though he was wearing giant sunglasses in the terminal in an attempt not be noticed. He made me
promise not to post the pictures on Facebook or anything and they refused to be photographed together. It seemed like they were very concerned with keeping the
fact that they were traveling together to Dallas on the DL, but if it was that important you'd think they would be on a charter. It's a bit tough to
not notice a 7 foot guy walking around an airport terminal. Gortat did boast however about being excited on the prospect of being a Maverick and I overheard
him saying that things were going to be weird for him next year being in a new town with new teammates. Take that for what it's worth.

I bet he will be in the running for MIP he will average around 12, 8, 2 playing next to dirk. He is a great rebounder can probably pull down 20 in certain
occasions.
