Eddy Curry intrigues me, as he seems to be the textbook definition of a "guy needing a change of scenery". It's of course common knowledge that NY needs to move him to better their 2010 off-season. I would be very interested in a Dampier for Curry deal if, of course, Dallas came out ahead for taking on that contract.

Since Sessions is a RFA, Mil can match anything that Sessions gets. The problem is, since they are basically in a fire sale (R. Jefferson), I doubt that they would give Sessions the Mid Level for his services. So the idea is, can Dallas offer to give Sessions the Mid Level, but work in a S&T with Mil for the Stack chip. I know that there is some BYC problems that come up, but not exactly sure if it would work. Say Sessions gets offered the Mid Level, that means they can only trade out ~3...

Assuming Kidd stays and Gortat isn't matched...

How about Howard and Williams for Richardson (works on RealGM), and then use the Stack chip to get a signed-and-traded Marion at $7 mil per? Then use the BAE on Quisy. Talk Bass into staying (spending more of Cuban's money). Then trade Damp for Chandler (works on RealGM) to save NO some big bucks.

if it boiled down to dallas having to make a sign at least it would be with a team that has a few assets. Rafer Hedo and lee are gone . Pietrus will step into hedo's role they traded for rafer because nelson was hurt and now he's gone again. Phoenix is obviously in rebuild right now. I know this guy is average at best on defense but everyting else about him would fit in great with what we are looking for at the 2..

Athletic, reasonably young at 28, and can still score at a high percent (including at 3pt)....

I dom't think he fit in to Phoenix's offense well last year. I wonder if he would be available for the right price? Looks like he has this year and next year at about 27.5 mill total

Bear with me, because this is long, but Im pretty passionate about the Mavs and their long term future so I have many valid thoughts Id like to share with this community.

After watching what is going on in free agency this year, and really examining what other teams are doing to their teams, there is little doubt in my mind that the best thing for the Mavericks organization to do is to let Jason Kidd leave town for good.

Gortat is going to be signed to the MLE (Orlando says they won't match). Its doubtful that any S&T's are going to happen.

We're most likely going to re-sign Kidd, unless LeBron pinky swears he'll sign with the Knicks in 2010.

That leaves the Stack chip. Not sure if Ross is going to get our BAE, the vet minimum, or not sign at all.

Damp probably won't be moved 'til next offseason when his value will be at its highest.

Both of our first two major offseason situations are in limbo right now and could very well fall apart. Which would damage the Mavs more - if Kidd walked, or if the Magic matched on Gortat? Some folks hate Kidd and Gortat. That's fine - in that case, which is the lesser of two evils?

I would personally say Kidd's walking would be worse, because Gortat being matched leaves a far more salvageable offseason. Some of the nice targets might be off the board then, but at least...
